Predators Far and Near

Bethlam Royal Hospital, infamously known as Bedlam, is a hospital for the mentally insane based at St. George's Fields in Southwark, south of the Thames. The building was designed in the neoclassical style and completed in 1815. It was constructed during the first wave of county asylum building in England under the County Asylum Act ("Wynn's Act") of 1808. Extending to 580 feet (180 m) in length, the hospital consists of a central block with two wings of three storeys on either side.

A cellar level beneath the structure houses the laboratory of Dr. Henry Jekyll in an old boiler room. The laboratory is lined with floor-to-ceiling shelves on every wall, most holding a wealth of apothecary's paraphernalia. The centrepiece of the room is a barber's chair, outfitted with restraints, where Jekyll conducts his experiments on the patients.
